We got to check it out at Overland Expo in Loveland, Colorado. Check out our walk-through video above.
The Wanderbox starts at $300,000, and the unit we toured — which belongs to an actual Wanderbox customer — comes in around $425,000. No small chunk of change, but if you’re looking to live full-time or close to it on your overland journeys, the Wanderbox might be the beast for you.
It gets about ten miles per gallon, which is actually surprisingly high given the Wanderbox’s size. It also comes with hydraulic suspension you can control electronically right from the driver’s seat.
Wanderbox[/caption]Wanderbox representatives on hand at Overland Expo told me that you can fully customize your Wanderbox so it’s exactly what you want and need for long-term living.
Where exactly do you take the Wanderbox? It can go just about anywhere you can fit it. Representatives said it’s not meant for heavy overlanding or rock crawling; it’s better to think of it as your basecamp, from which you go adventuring in your Jeep, on your moto, your mountain bike, or just in your hiking boots.
The aluminum shell that comprises the Wanderbox helps keep some of the weight down, though this is still a massively heavy vehicle. That aluminum also resists rust and damage from weather exposure.
Check out our walkthrough video and let us know: Where would you take the Wanderbox? Is it the right vehicle for your lifestyle? We’re curious to know if the Wanderbox ticks all the boxes for you. Give us a shout on Instagram.
